I am beyond honored and excited to be participating in the 128th Boston Marathon® as a member of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge (DFMC) team. The DFMC team runs and raises funds with thousands of special people in mind. From Hopkinton to Boston, we will carry thoughts of these people every step of the way.
Specifically, I will be running in honor of my mom, Patricia Rubino who was diagnosed with breast cancer this past September. Her strength, beauty, and positivity during this hard time continues to motivate me to run for all individuals whom have been affected by cancer.
Each year, over 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and The Breast Oncology Program at the Susan F. Smith Center for Women's Cancers at Dana-Farber continues to provide state-of-the-art and compassionate care for breast cancer patients.
As a member of the DFMC team, my goal is to run and raise funds to support all cancer research that is currently ongoing at Dana-Farber. My hope is to be able to give back to more families facing cancer to ensure that they are able to receive the same extraordinary care my family has been so blessed with. At Dana-Farber scientist and specialist are committed to providing adults and children with cancer with the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow's cures through cutting-edge research. For 75 years, Dana-Farber has been at the forefront of cancer care and research.
One hundred percent of every dollar raised by the DFMC team supports the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These funds are fueling some of today's most promising basic cancer research.
