Thank you for visiting our Giving Page to support Medulloblastoma research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund!
On June 19, 2019, our beautiful and beloved Adus was diagnosed with a brain tumor. We then learned that the tumor was a Group 3 Medulloblastoma that had metastisized.
On July 14, 2019, our angel Adus soared to heaven, peacefully resting with his mommy and daddy. It was love at first sight with little Adus. He was pure joy and sunshine. To know him was to love him.
He exhibited tremendous strength during his battle with this incredibly cruel cancer. He was our rainbow baby, our miracle, and one of our greatest joys. For 15 months, the world was a better place with him in it. It breaks our hearts that the world didn't get to see all that he could do.
We are hopeful that through the information learned from Adus, the world will gain ground in fighting this horrible childhood cancer.
In honor of Adus, we are coming full force against Medulloblastoma until there is a cure. No child, parent, or family should ever have to endure this nightmare. No child shoud suffer at the hands of this cruel disease.
We thank the amazing staff at Boston Children's Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. We thank the wonderful neurosurgeons, Dr. Katie Fehnel and Dr. Scelling Stone. We thank the wonderful neuro-oncologist, Dr. Susan Chi.
Your generous donations and support will help Dr. Chi and the expert doctors, researchers, and medical professionals as they advance Medulloblastoma efforts at Dana-Farber.
Many children CANNOT be cured at this time. Even for those children who are, treatments can be associated with significant long-term side effects.
Further research is desperately needed to transform how this disease is treated.
Investigators in Dana-Farber's Pediatric Brain Tumor Center are actively leading cutting-edge research and clinical trials. For example, researchers are applying genome-editing technology to systematically screen models of Medulloblastoma from each of its sub-types to identify genes that are required for Medulloblastoma cells to survive. These genes represent potential targets to inhibit with new drugs.
Once the most promising targets are identified, Dana-Farber will work with relevant drug companies to translate these findings into the design of new clinical trials, with the goal of developing new standard protocols for treatment based on the genomics of each patient's Medulloblastoma.
This work is simply is not possible without the generosity of donors. Your gift will directly advance Dana-Farber’s efforts. We are confident that we will find a cure for Medulloblastoma in honor of our precious Adus.
We thank you all for your generous donations, words of encouragement, and your love.
