About Teams

A Walk team on the course

TEAM UP WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Many Jimmy Fund Walk teams are a combination of family, friends, and communities who come together against cancer to make a difference. Teams often rally together in honor of a loved one to show their support. Team Captains can use this manual to get your team going and this list of suggested vendors to make team shirts.

Sue Wheeler is the Team Captain of Christian's Hot Jamaican Chili Pepper Crusaders.

“Christian’s Hot Jamaican Chili Pepper Crusaders was formed by a group of boys in support for Christian as he fought leukemia. Chris is strong and healthy today, and we are forever grateful to the Jimmy Fund Clinic! Faced with my own diagnosis of breast cancer in 2015, I was treated at Dana-Farber. We walk to raise awareness, honor all those we know who have fought cancer, and to raise money for better treatments.”

CORPORATE TEAMS

Many companies and organizations start a team or sponsor the Jimmy Fund Walk through a financial or in-kind contribution. The Jimmy Fund staff is available to offer guidance and provide resources every step of the way. Contact Stephanie Marcus to learn more.

Schneider Electric has been a proud supporter of Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund for over 20 years, and fielded their first Walk team in 2010.

“At Schneider Electric, we say, 'Life is On,' to express our commitment to the communities where we live and work. Last year, Schneider’s cumulative contribution to the Jimmy Fund Walk topped $500,000, and we are very excited to continue that journey with Dana-Farber when we join the Walk again this year.”

DANA-FARBER EMPLOYEE TEAMS

The Jimmy Fund Walk allows those that work together, to walk together. All Dana-Farber employees are encouraged to walk and participate alongside our courageous patients and their families and friends. All employee walkers will be invited to events throughout the year including Jimmy Fund Walk Spirit Week and will receive a special patch to wear on Walk day.

Dana-Farber Employee led teams are also eligible to earn the coveted Golden Sneaker Awards: Excellence in Fundraising, Pacesetter Power, Rookie of the Year, and Staff Spotlight.

Kelli is the Captain of Team Remembrance.

“I lost my Dad to cancer in 2011, which was the most difficult experience and shaped who I am today. I have been an oncology nurse for 10+ years because I love my patients. They teach me so much about life, family, perseverance, and even myself. Their entire world has been rocked by cancer, and somehow, they still find the strength to fight, and so I do my part to walk with them towards the ultimate finish line: A world without cancer.”
