In the Fall of 2015, Joan wasn’t feeling well and had developed a red rash over her torso. Joan was examined by her dermatologist who determined that Joan had cancer. In December 2015, Joan was diagnosed with Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL). In CTCL, instead of protecting the body’s immune system, these T-cells attack the body, specifically the skin. Joan was referred to the Dana Farber where she had the good fortune to meet Dr. O’Malley and Dr. Fisher. Over a 7-year period Joan received multiple types of experimental treatments. These treatments were successful in minimizing Joan’s severe body pain but were not able to cure her. In October, Joan made a decision to stop the treatments, and she passed away on November 8, 2022 with her loving family at her side.
There is currently no cure for CTCL. Any money donated will be directed to finding a cure. Thank you for your donation.
