Thank you for visiting this Giving Page in memory of Trish Leary to support cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.
Trish was a Dana-Farber patient twice in her lifetime. In 2008 Trish received a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) to cure her of Myelofibrosis, a rare disease that destroys the bone marrow that produces red blood cells. The BMT was successful and Dana Farber treated her after the BMT for Graft Vs. Host Disease (GVHD) for several years.
In April of 2018 Trish was diagnosed with Peritoneal (abdomen) Mesothelioma, an even rarer disease than Myelofibrosis with no known cure. After debulking surgery in May 2018 Trish began chemotherapy at Dana-Farber. After the surgery, HIPEC and three months of chemotherapy treatments, in August of 2018 tests showed that there was no detectable disease and chemotherapy was suspended.
In December of 2018 tests revealed that the Mesothelioma had returned and chemotherapy resumed. Between December of 2018 and August of 2019 three different chemotherapy treatments were tried to retard the growth of the disease. Unfortunately, none of the treatments were effective.
Your gift will help support research that may someday find a cure.
Thank you for you generosity
