Dr. Ng is a board-certified medical oncologist with MD and MPH degrees who specializes in the treatment and investigation of gastrointestinal malignancies. In her role as Director of Translational Research for the Gastrointestinal Cancer Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, she facilitates collaborative projects with laboratory scientists across academia and industry, and leads clinical trials of novel therapeutics. Her research program aims to identify dietary, molecular, and genetic predictors of improved survival in patients with colorectal cancer, with a focus on the vitamin D pathway and the microbiome. In March 2019, she founded the Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute – among the first centers of its kind in the world – to spearhead a multidisciplinary research effort to elucidate the underlying causes of the increased incidence and mortality of young-onset colorectal cancer. She has received multiple grants for her work, including K07, R01, and P50 SPORE awards from the National Cancer Institute to evaluate the role of vitamin D in colorectal cancer; a DOD Translational Team Science Award to investigate mechanisms of resistance to EGFR inhibitors; and a Cancer Research UK Grand Challenge award to investigate the role of the microbiome in colorectal cancer.
