Dearest Friends and Family of Gina,
As many of you know, Gina has recently passed away after a brave, multi-year battle with leukemia.
To all of us, Gina was a dear friend, partner, sister, and daughter. Throughout her life, Gina led with compassion, a positive attitude, and easygoing sense of humor. Gina quickly made friends wherever she went, and I’m sure we can all share an experience where she brought together disparate groups of people who had nothing in common except admiration and love for Gina.
For as long as I can remember, Gina has wanted to be a doctor. She had a natural desire to listen to and care for others. She was talented and loved to learn about all things medical. Gina’s passion for the pursuit of medicine was evident to all who knew her.
Unfortunately, leukemia caused her to take a detour from medical school. For me personally and I am sure many of us, Gina brought to life just how much progress we have made in the fight against cancer, and heartbreakingly, how much more progress is desperately needed.
Gina mentioned that in lieu of flowers, she would want to use this opportunity to bring awareness to and drive progress in cancer research. Even through the end, Gina was the doctor that we all knew she was meant to be.
In honor and loving memory of Gina, we wanted to raise $50,000 so that she may be memorialized forever in the halls of Dana Farber for her kindness, positive spirit, and passion for medicine.
