On September 18, 2023 my world changed forever- I was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. As a 20-time marathoner and overall active 45 year old I was blindsided but I am so grateful to live in the Boston area and to have access to some of the most advanced cancer care in the world - like that at Dana-Farber. I also am a firm believer that movement is medicine and running has helped and will continue to help save my life. I learned quickly continuing to workout was good for the body and soul and helped ease side effects of treatment. I look forward to lacing up my running shoes and taking my first steps toward a new kind of finish line with Dana-Farber to end cancer - not just for me but for so many others.
Many of you know Falmouth Road Race is dear to my heart. I fell in love with running here when I was 14 and have run this course over 25 times. I couldn’t think of a better or more meaningful race to comeback to running to as a cancer thriver. Every mile and each donation, no matter the size, supports The Dana-Farber Campaign, the Institute’s ambitious, multi-year fundraising effort, focused on supporting revolutionary research, extraordinary care, exceptional expertise, and other priorities, to help Dana-Farber accomplish its mission of preventing, treating, and defying cancer.
Thank you for your support! Together, we are helping Dana-Farber race toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer. #CPBeatsCancer
