Is the Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge website secure?

Yes. All information submitted online is subject to the Jimmy Fund Privacy Policy. Please read the Jimmy Fund Privacy Policy before submitting any personal information.

How do my supporters get a receipt of their gift to use for tax purposes?

All gifts made online will receive an email confirmation, which includes tax information. Gifts of $15 or more made by check are acknowledged with a letter. For gifts made by check that are less than $15, the cancelled check will serve as your tax receipt.

I just made a gift. What will appear on my bank statement?

Your online transaction will appear on your credit card statement as: DANAFARBERJIMMYFND. If the transaction is pending, you may see PENDINGBB appear, which is normal. Should you have any questions regarding what appears on your statement, please contact Victoria Fox at 617-632-6603 or JimmyFund_Golf@dfci.harvard.edu.

I just made a gift online but did not receive my email confirmation. Can this be re-sent to me?

Yes. Please contact Victoria Fox at 617-632-6603 or JimmyFund_Golf@dfci.harvard.edu to request an email acknowledgement.

How do my supporters submit a matching gift form?

Every company has their own policies and procedures to determine a particular charity's eligibility to receive a matching gift. Your supporters' Human Resources departments will have more information about how to have a gift matched or you can search for your company to see if they provide matching gifts to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

If the original gift is made online, please have your supporter(s) print out the email confirmation received upon making the gift and mail it with the matching gift form to:

Can my supporters make gifts of stock/securities to support my fundraising? What about gifts made through Donor Advised Funds?

Yes. Your supporters can give gifts of stock or securities and we also accept gifts from Donor Advised Funds. To make a gift via an existing Donor Advised Fund, donors should utilize the Donor Advised Fund link on the “Give” page and reach out to their Donor Advised Fund contact to confirm. Donors should always be sure to note the gift designation (e.g. Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge/participant name). Please email JimmyFund_Golf@dfci.harvard.edu once this gift has been made so we can credit the correct participant.

Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund's Tax ID Number is 042263040.

I have a question about giving from my Donor Advised Fund using DAF Direct. Who do I contact?

Follow the instructions after clicking to give via DAF Direct. You may email our Donor Services team at AskCS@dfci.harvard.edu or call 617-632-2903 if you have any further questions. You may also contact JimmyFund_Golf@dfci.harvard.edu with any questions. Please email Victoria after any gifts are made to your page using Donor Advised Funds.

How do I opt out of communications?

If you wish to opt out of receiving fundraising mailings from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, please call (800) 525-4669 or click here. If you wish to opt out of email communications, you may also click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge email.

Who can participate?

Anyone! Golfers of all ages are welcome to participate, as well as anyone utilizing any form of golf to fundraise. While we are asking you to dedicate a round for the Jimmy Fund, you could also play mini golf, hit the driving range, or be creative at home!

Is there a deadline for registration?

To participate in the Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge Experience at The Cape Club of Sharon on Monday, August 30, 2021, golfers must be registered and have raised at least $750 by 5:00 p.m. on August 26, 2021. All fundraising for this initiative must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on October 15, 2021, to be considered for the tiered fundraising prizes and top fundraising prizes.

I forgot my username and/or password. What do I do?

Please click on the "forgot username and/or password" link on the “Login page”. You will then be asked questions to determine your identity and help you reset your information. If you continue to encounter issues, please email JimmyFund_Golf@dfci.harvard.edu.

I am having trouble with registering. What should I do?

Please make sure you have answered all required questions and if applicable, entered all of the correct credit card and billing information. If you continue to encounter issues, please email JimmyFund_Golf@dfci.harvard.edu.

What are the fundraising requirements?

As a participant, the only requirement is a $25 registration fee. Upon registration, you’ll receive a $20 PGA TOUR Superstore gift card, a specialized Jimmy Fund/Dana-Farber face buff, and a personal fundraising page to help you reach out to your network of family and friends. In your participant center, there are a variety of templates and tools to assist with your fundraising! There is no fundraising minimum for this event, however, if you want to receive a tee time to the Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge Experience, you will need to raise at least $750 by August 26, 2021.

Are there prizes for the top fundraisers?

Yes! Please reference the incentive level chart where fundraisers will accumulate prizes for each fundraising milestone they reach. Additionally, the top team will win a foursome to the Cape Club of Sharon for the 2022 golf season. All fundraising must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on October 15, 2021, to be considered for these prizes.

Can I turn in checks and cash?

Please make checks payable to "The Jimmy Fund." Please do not send cash gifts—any cash collected should be converted to a money order or cashier's check payable to "The Jimmy Fund." Complete the Gift Deposit Form, listing that it is for your personal page name, and attach it to any gifts so that we can add it to your fundraising total and acknowledge your donors. Where does the money go?

Eighty-eight cents of every dollar given to the Jimmy Fund directly supports cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber. Learn more about where your money goes.

How do I start a team?

Start your Challenge team by clicking the start a team button. Once registered, recruit your team and start fundraising!

Is there a limit or minimum to how many people can be on a team?

Yes, there is a maximum of four people per team. Please note: In order to be considered for the top team prize, your team must consist of at least 2 members.

Can we create our own team name?

Yes, you are able to create your own team name. Please use your discretion and select a team name that best represents the Dana-Farber and Jimmy Fund brand. We reserve the right to change any team names deemed inappropriate.

Does each member of my team have to raise the $750 minimum to receive golf?

Yes. Each team member participating in the Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge is responsible for raising at least $750 (registration excluded) to receive the round of golf at the Cape Club of Sharon on August 30. Please note that the fundraising minimum must be on each individual’s fundraising page and not on the team page.

If I raise more money, do I get more golf spots?

No, anyone who would like to participate in the Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge Experience needs to register here and fundraise at least $750. If you do raise more than $750, you’ll be eligible for some prizes!

Are we obligated to reach whatever fundraising goal we set for our team?

No. The team fundraising goal is a tool to motivate your team and supporters.

Can I join or start a team if I’m already registered?

Yes. If you are registered as an individual, but want to join a team:

1) Log in to your Participant Center
2) Select the “Edit Profile” and then the “Event Options”
3) Select “Join Team” and search for the team you would like to join

If you are registered as an individual, but want to start a team, contact the Jimmy Fund Golf staff at 617-632-6603 or VictoriaL_Fox@dfci.harvard.edu and we will make the change.

Can a donor make a general donation to my team?

Yes. Donors can give to the general team page by searching for the team’s name or directly from the team’s fundraising page.

Can general team donations be split among team members?

No. When a donation is made to the team, it can only be moved from the general team fund to one team member. Donations cannot be split among team members. Team Captains will need to contact us to request the transfer of funds.

Why should I form a team?

Teams are a great way to show unity and make fundraising and golfing more fun—plus the top fundraising team will win a great prize! Teams can be formed in honor or memory of a friend or loved one, or to represent a company, organization, group, or family.

Is participating on a team mandatory?

No. You can sign up individually, and if you raise at least $750 you will be paired with other individual fundraisers at the Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge Experience.

What are my responsibilities as a Team Captain?

The main role of a Team Captain is to recruit team members and encourage the team's fundraising efforts. In addition, you will have online access to customize your team's fundraising page, communicate important information to your members, and be a general resource for basic questions. Team captains are also the only ones who can direct donations made to the team page to specific team members, if necessary (see question 9 for more information).

How will people know I am a Team Captain?

Your name will be listed first on your team’s fundraising page, and you will have a “C” next to your name.

Is there a top team fundraising prize?

Yes! The team that raises the most money will win a foursome to The Cape Club of Sharon to be used in the 2022 golf season.

How does our team win the top team prize?

The top fundraising team (based on the cumulative fundraising total of all team members) as of 11:59 P.M. EST on October 15, 2021 will be awarded the prize. Please note: In order to be considered for the top team prize, your team must consist of at least 2 members.

Can I still be eligible for individual fundraising prizes if I’m on a team?

Yes, each individual is eligible to win the individual fundraising prizes, regardless of whether they are on a team. See Fundraising FAQs for more information about these prizes.

Do I need to raise at least $750 by a certain date to receive a tee time?

Yes, each individual must raise at least $750 by August 26, 2021, to receive a tee time to play at the Cape Club of Sharon on August 30, 2021.

What time does golf start on August 30?

Tee times will be sent out to those who have qualified to participate in the Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge Experience in late August.

If I fundraise as an individual, who will I play with?

All individual fundraisers will be paired up with other individual fundraisers who qualify for the Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge Experience

If I fundraise more than $750, can I bring a guest with me to golf?

No, anyone who would like to participate in the Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge Experience needs to register here and fundraise at least $750. If you do raise more than $750, you’ll be eligible for some great prizes!

What will the Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge Experience day look like?

All participants of the Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge Experience will enjoy a day at the exclusive Cape Club of Sharon. Will weather impact the Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge Experience?

The Jimmy Fund Golf Challenge Experience will be held rain or shine as long as the conditions are safe to proceed. Should there be inclement weather such as lightning or heavy rain that make the course unplayable, alternate arrangements will be made and we will communicate with all participants via email with as much advanced warning as possible.
