About Teams

A walk team walking their way

TEAM UP WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Many Jimmy Fund Walk teams are a combination of family, friends, and communities who come together against cancer to make a difference. Teams often rally together in honor of a loved one to show their support.

Viva La Marcos has been walking since 2017 in support of their friend, Marcos.

“In August 2017, we got the very shocking news that Marcos was diagnosed with stage four bone cancer. Marcos was larger than life: a 27-year-old, 6'3" 250 lb professional rugby-playing dad-joke expert. We did our first Jimmy Fund Walk about 4 weeks after Marcos was diagnosed. We've done it every year since, and we'll continue to do it every year going forward. Our hearts broke when we lost Marcos in December 2020. We hope that our minor impact can one day save someone else's Marcos.”

CORPORATE TEAMS

Many companies and organizations start a team or sponsor the Jimmy Fund Walk through a financial or in-kind contribution. The Jimmy Fund staff is available to offer guidance and provide resources every step of the way. Contact Stephanie Dolliver to learn more.

Team Long's is very excited to head back to the course this fall!

“The owners of Longs, Bob, Craig, and Judd Rottenberg, have been involved with the Jimmy Fund Walk for many years, first as an event sponsor and then also as generous supporters. Over the years we have loved the Walk for the mission and the camaraderie it brings to all of us who walk, volunteer, or donate. Many of us have had family and friends who have lived with or have passed on from cancer and it is empowering to know we can make a difference!”

Steve is the Assistant Vice President, Digital Marketing in the Division of Philanthropy, and longtime Team Captain of Giant Steps.

“I’ve done the Walk with my daughters for the past 10 years as team Giant Steps. Last year we walked for my nephew Will, a student at Endicott College who was being treated at Dana-Farber for non-Hodgkin lymphoma. I’m happy to say that he was declared cancer free in October and is graduating this year. That’s why we walk!”
