Teams are the best way for a group of any size to participate in the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk together. Form a team in honor of a loved one, or to represent a company, organization, school, or family. Walking with a team creates unity through fighting cancer, together.
Many Jimmy Fund Walk teams are a combination of family, friends, and communities who come together against cancer, even when apart, to make a difference. Teams often rally together in honor of a loved one to show their support.
Joyce and Christine are the Team Captain's of Toss out Cancer.
“Like the Frank Sinatra song 'My Way,' we walked the streets because cancer does not stop for anything, not even a pandemic. Each of us walked for our own reasons; some walked in memory of those who have lost their battle and some of us walked while living with cancer. At the end, we reached our festive finish line and celebrated our victory. Team Toss Out Cancer will walk again 'our way' for the 2021 Jimmy Fund Walk.”
Many companies and organizations start a team or sponsor the Jimmy Fund Walk through a financial or in-kind contribution. The Jimmy Fund staff is available to offer guidance and provide resources every step of the way. Contact Samantha Rose, Corporate Teams Coordinator, to learn more.

The 15-member SBA Cares team raised over $11,000 for DFCI in 2020 and looks forward to raising even more funds in 2021 as part of their third year walking!
“Why do we walk? For family members, friends, and coworkers who are in the battle against cancer, who are survivors, and to honor those who have lost their fight. We’re inspired by this quote from Danny Thomas: ‘Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It’s what you do for others.’”
The Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way allows those that work together, to walk together even when apart. All Dana-Farber employees are encouraged to walk and participate alongside our courageous patients and their families. All employee walkers will be invited to virtual events throughout the year and will receive a special patch to wear on Walk day.
Dana-Farber Employee led teams are also eligible to earn the coveted Golden Sneaker Awards: Excellence in Fundraising, Pacesetter Power, Rookie of the Year and Staff Spotlight.

“We walk to support the patients of the Pediatric Cancer Genetic Risk Program. The money raised from the JF Walk will help improve accessibility to quality care and surveillance measures for our patients, and help us to support more patients in the future as our program grows. These funds also support research projects in pediatric cancer predisposition to develop care plans and learn as much as possible about this area of pediatric oncology.”
