SUNNY, 48

In 2021, Sunny had a bad cough and difficulty breathing. After two months of doctor visits, a CAT scan revealed a tumor in her lungs and she was soon diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. She shared her experience in 2022 alongside her doctor, David Barbie, MD, who Sunny says treats her like family every time she is at Dana-Farber.

VIOLET, 3

Violet and her parents, Lucy and Brian, joined NESN in 2022 to share her experience with Wilms tumor. Violet was diagnosed in May 2022 and she loves going to the Jimmy Fund Clinic and helping her nurses with her port and labs. She loves to play on swings, go for walks, and play pretend with her doctor kit!

Chuck, 55

Chuck was diagnosed with stage IV kidney cancer in 2015, when he was 48. Dedicated father of four, he was joined during the 2022 broadcast by his oldest daughter, Kayla, who was inspired by her dad’s treatment to come work at Dana-Farber. An advocate for kidney cancer research, he says he is “living proof” of the power of research conducted at the Institute.
