Who can participate in Rally Against CancerSM presented by Chowdaheadz?

Anyone can participate in Rally Against Cancer! You can start a team at your workplace or school, or join a current team by simply giving $10 online to that team’s fundraising page.

How do the different Rally seasons work? Can I sign up for just one or both?

There are now two seasons for Rally Against Cancer, which means two seasons to get involved! You can sign up for one season or both seasons. To start a team, use the start team button to sign up for your sports season. To join an existing team, search for that team’s fundraising page and give $10 or more! The combined totals from your October 2018 - February 2019 Football season and your 2019 Red Sox season will qualify you for the grand prize player visit. All fundraising is due April 23, 2019.

How do I sign up for Rally if I don't want to start a team?

You can participate without starting a team by searching for an existing team’s fundraising page and giving $10 or more. Not affiliated with a team? Simply make a general gift to Rally Against Cancer.

How do I start a Rally team?

Start your Rally Against Cancer team by clicking the start team button, then select your sports season. Once registered, recruit your team, and fundraise!

Can people outside of my workplace or school join my team?

Yes, anyone can join your team by giving money to your team’s fundraising page.

Can my workplace or school have multiple Rally Teams?

Yes, your organization can house as many Rally teams as it wants. However, if you would like each team's fundraising to count toward the larger organization's fundraising total, you must participate as one team. You may merge teams until April 23, 2019 by emailing your request to RallyAgainstCancer@dfci.harvard.edu.

Where does the fundraising money go?

The money raised through Rally Against Cancer funds cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute by supporting the Jimmy Fund. Check out how your support helps for additional information!

I want to give more than the $10 minimum gift. Is that allowed?

Absolutely. There is a minimum contribution of $10 to join an existing team online; however, you are always welcome to give more. See each season’s page to see what you can win.

How do I find my team's fundraising page?

Go to the Make a Gift page and search for your team’s individual fundraising page, or you can click the Give button at any time.

How do I personalize my team’s fundraising page?

Log in to your Participant Center, then select “View and Edit Page” under the “My Next Steps” section, or click “Edit Page” on the top toolbar.

When does fundraising end?

For Football Season: To qualify for the football prizes, all gifts must be received by February 4, 2019 at 5 p.m. EDT.

For Red Sox Season: To qualify for the prize visits, all gifts must be received by April 23, 2019 at 5 p.m. EDT.

What are the Contest Prizes and who is eligible to win?

All contest prizes can be viewed on the Red Sox and Football season pages.

For the Red Sox Season: The team from each participating category: 1) workplaces; 2) schools with the most funds raised at 5 p.m. EDT on April 23, 2019, and the "Wild Card" winner will be eligible for a grand prize visit from a Red Sox player.

All individual team checks must be received by April 23, 2019 at 5 p.m. EDT.

The team from each of the eight divisions with the most funds raised as of 5 p.m. EDT on April 23, 2019, will each win 2 tickets to a 2019 Boston Red Sox home game.

*Only organizations within a sixty mile drive of the metro Boston area will be eligible for spokesplayer visits. Details to be determined mutually by the Jimmy Fund and winning teams.

For the Football Season:

  • The highest fundraising team will win 15 Chowdaheadz t-shirts and 15 Jimmy Fund hats
  • The second place team will win five Chowdaheadz hoodies and 10 Jimmy Fund hats
  • The third place team will win five Chowdaheadz hats

All individual team checks must be received by February 4, 2019 at 5 p.m. EDT.

What are some additional ways for me and my team to fundraise?

You can organize a game viewing party to celebrate and support a great cause. Leading up to the big day, you can also host fundraising events, bake sales, charitable auctions, or more. See About Teams for more ideas.

I received cash or check from a donor. What should I do?

Please convert all cash to a cashier’s check or money order. All checks and money orders should to the below address. Please make sure to include a completed Cash/Check Deposit Form in each deposit envelope.

What is a matching gift? How do I submit a matching gift?

Many companies offer matching gift programs to encourage their employees’ support of charitable organizations. Contact your company’s human resources department for information about how to have a gift matched, or search for your company to see if it provides matching gifts to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

I just made a gift by credit card. What will appear on my bank statement?

Your online transaction will appear on your credit card statement as: DANAFARBERJIMMYFND. If the transaction is pending, you may see PENDINGBB appear, which is normal. Should you have any questions regarding what appears on your statement, please email our Donor Services team at askCS@dfci.harvard.edu. We can also be reached by phone at 800-525-4669 or 617-632-2903.

Will I receive a tax receipt for my gift?

All gifts made online will receive an email confirmation, which includes tax information. Gifts of $15 or more made by check are acknowledged with a letter. For gifts made by check that are less than $15, the cancelled check will serve as your tax receipt.

I have a question about giving from my Donor Advised Fund using DAF Direct. Who do I contact?

Follow the instructions after clicking to give via DAF Direct. Email our Donor Services team or call 617-632-2903 if you have any further questions. Our team may direct you to speak with your DAF.

Is the Rally Against Cancer website secure?

Yes. All information submitted online is subject to the Jimmy Fund Privacy Policy. Please read the Jimmy Fund Privacy Policy before submitting any personal information.

How do I opt out of communications?

If you wish to opt out of receiving fundraising mailings from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, please call 800-525-4669 or visit JimmyFund.org/Opt-Out. If you wish to opt out of email communications, you may also click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any Jimmy Fund email.
