Who can participate in Cheer for Dana-Farber®?

Any cheerleader, cheerleading coach or team parent can participate in Cheer for Dana-Farber! Confirm with the cheerleading coach that your team can participate and assign one person to start a team. You can start or join a team at your school, youth league, Pop Warner organization, or private gym.

How can I support the program if I don’t want to start or join a Cheer team?

You may also choose to "Sponsor a Participant."

How will I be notified when someone joins my team?

If you are a Team Captain, you can quickly review your team participants by logging in to your Participant Center, clicking on the “My Team” tab, then scrolling down to the “Team Members” section.

Can my workplace or school have multiple teams?

Yes, your school or organization can have as many Cheer teams as it wants. However, each team is considered separate when prizes are distributed at the end of the program. Each team should limit their cheerleaders to 35 per team. If you have further questions about team size please email

How do I find my Cheer team's page?

To find your team’s page, log into your Participant Center and select the “Edit Page” tab. You can also find your page by clicking the “Give” button, and then searching for your team’s name.

How does my individual fundraising page work?

Each participant has the option to use their individual fundraising page, if he or she wishes to ask friends and family to support the team's goal. When registering, each participant will have the ability to create their own personal fundraising goal. The goal is not required; each individual participant can choose to forgo this feature.

When does fundraising end?

To qualify for prizes, all gifts must be received by Dana-Farber by 11:59PM on April 15, 2020. Prizes for top fundraising teams will be determined on April 16th.

What are the prizes?

The top nine overall fundraising teams will be able to participate in a cheerleading clinic at Gillette Stadium with the New England Patriots Cheerleaders. Teams that raise $500 or more will receive Cheer for Dana-Farber t-shirts, and teams who raise at least $250 will earn Cheer for Dana-Farber bows. How is the money collected?

Funds can be collected online through your team or individual fundraising pages. All funds raised on individual pages will count towards the team’s total. If team members want to collect cash, you may exchange cash for a cashier's check or money order and send it via mail; we are unable to accept cash through mail. Any checks collected can be made payable to "Dana-Farber Cancer Institute" and sent along with your deposit form to:

How can I spread the word about Cheer for Dana-Farber using social media?

Post photos on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using #CheerForDanaFarber of your team at fundraising events or games. Tag your teammates to spread the word even more!

Is the Cheer for Dana-Farber website secure?

Yes. All information submitted online is subject to our Privacy Policy. Please read our Privacy Policy before submitting any personal information.

How do my supporters get a receipt of their gift to use for tax purposes?

All gifts made online will receive an email confirmation, which includes tax information. Gifts of $15 or more made by check are acknowledged with a letter. For gifts made by check that are less than $15, the cancelled check will serve as your tax receipt.

I just made a gift. What will appear on my bank statement?

Your online transaction will appear on your credit card statement as: DANAFARBERJIMMYFND. If the transaction is pending, you may see PENDINGBB appear, which is normal. I just made a gift online but did not receive my email confirmation. Can this be re-sent to me?

Yes. Please email our Donor Services team at or call 617-632-2903 to request an email acknowledgement.

How do my supporters submit a matching gift form?

Every company has their own policies and procedures to determine a particular charity's eligibility to receive a matching gift. Your supporters' Human Resources departments will have more information about how to have a gift matched or you can search for your company to see if they provide matching gifts to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.
If the original gift is made online, please have your supporter(s) print out the email confirmation received upon making the gift and mail it with the matching gift form to:
