Teams are the best way for a group of any size to participate in the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk together. Form a team in honor of a loved one, or to represent a company, organization, school, or family. Walking with a team creates unity through fighting cancer, together.
Many Jimmy Fund Walk teams are a combination of family, friends, and communities who come together against cancer, even when apart, to make a difference. Teams often rally together in honor of a loved one to show their support.
Team Diane is led by team captain, Carol Cashion. The team walks in memory of Diane Brewster.
“Since 2011, we have raised over $350,000 to support the gynecological cancers group at Dana-Farber. We follow in the footsteps of Diane herself, who completed the full 26.2 mile walk three times following her diagnosis with ovarian cancer in 2006. When the pandemic kept us off the Boston Marathon® route last year, we rallied and completed our walk on sidewalks, trails, and roads across the country. Like Dana-Farber’s progress against cancer, Team Diane will not be stopped!”
Many companies and organizations start a team or sponsor the Jimmy Fund Walk through a financial or in-kind contribution. The Jimmy Fund staff is available to offer guidance and provide resources every step of the way. Contact the Walk Inbox to learn more.

Dan Power, center, walks with his son and State Street colleagues to fight cancer.
“I walk for my family, friends, State Street colleagues, their family and friends, and for everyone in our community who has had to fight cancer. I’ve lost many family members and friends to this disease, so I walk in their memory. And I walk to hasten the day when we’ve beaten cancer. Every step that every Jimmy Fund walker takes is a silent prayer for the day when cancer can no longer claim our parents, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, and other people in our lives.”
The Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way allows those that work together, to walk together even when apart. All Dana-Farber employees are encouraged to walk and participate alongside our courageous patients and their families. All employee walkers will be invited to virtual events throughout the year and will receive a special patch to wear on Walk day.
Dana-Farber Employee led teams are also eligible to earn the coveted Golden Sneaker Awards: Excellence in Fundraising, Pacesetter Power, Rookie of the Year and Staff Spotlight.

Caroline Glennon is the Co-Captain of Team Racing Resources. The team has raised over $148K and counting for the Blum Pediatric Resource Room since 2011!
“I walk in memory of my Opa, and for all other Dana-Farber patients past, present, and future. As a staff member, I am so grateful to be a part of our Racing Resources team! Funds raised will support the wonderful programs for pediatric patients and families in Jimmy Fund Clinic’s Blum Pediatric Resource Room.”
