Many Jimmy Fund Walk teams are a combination of family, friends, and communities who come together to make a difference. Teams often rally together in honor of a loved one to show their support.
A Two-Star Pacesetter Team, In Memory of Mary walks in tribute to Mary and her courageous 12.5 year battle with colon cancer.
“We walk as husband, kids, grandkids, sisters, nieces, nephews, daughters, and sons-in-laws and friends with hopes that there will be a day where cancer won't take away our loved ones and hurt other families in the way our family has been affected. Mary always raved about receiving the best treatment at Dana-Farber and how every person she would come in contact with was so amazing and comforting.”
Many companies and organizations start a team or sponsor the Jimmy Fund Walk through a financial or in-kind contribution. The Jimmy Fund staff is available to offer guidance and provide resources every step of the way. Contact Samantha Rose, Corporate Teams Coordinator, to learn more.

Team Moo was a first-time Corporate Team in 2018.
“We each have our individual reason as to why this event is important to us, but walking 26.2 miles as a team creates a unique connection outside of work. Knowing that our time, energy, and fundraising are all going to support a world-class organization take on cancer makes every step worth it. We’re beating cancer together! And the hours of quality team bonding? Well, that’s an added bonus.”
Work together, walk together. All Dana-Farber employees are encouraged to walk or volunteer, and participate alongside our courageous patients and their families. All employee walkers and volunteers will be invited to events throughout the year and will receive a special patch to wear on Walk day.
Dana-Farber Employee led teams are also eligible to earn the coveted Golden Sneaker Awards: Excellence in Fundraising, Pacesetter Power, Rookie of the Year and Staff Spotlight.

Steve Kelly is the Team Captain of Giant Steps, an employee-led team that raised over $3,000 in 2018!
“I’ve walked with my daughters since I started working at Dana-Farber & the Jimmy Fund in 2012. It’s been a great way to get closer to our mission, experience one of our awesome fundraising events, and teach them the importance of giving. Nina has donated her birthday to Walk fundraising and raised money at lemonade stands!”
