How do I start a team?

After selecting “Register,” choose "Start a Team" and follow the on-screen instructions. After your team name is registered, other members of your team can register under this name by choosing the "Join a Team" option and selecting your team name from the available list.

How many players can be on a team?

There can be up to 7 players on each team. If you have more than 7 players on your team, please contact us at FantasyDay@dfci.harvard.edu and we would be happy to make special arrangements.

Can I register as an individual player and not as part of a team?

Absolutely! Please select "Join as an Individual" during the registration process and choose an individual batting, fielding, or full inning package. The Jimmy Fund will assign you with other participants during John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day.

What is the cancellation policy?

The cancellation policy is as follows:

"If I register for the event, I am obligated to submit the fundraising minimum. I understand that I will be responsible for the fundraising minimum whether I participate on event day or not. The registration fee is non-refundable."

NOTE: Each participant is required to agree to the above policy at the time of registration.

Once I have registered, can I change any of my registration information?

After you register, you can change your personal or contact information by logging in to your Participant Center and clicking on the “Edit Profile” tab.

If any other changes need to be made, or if you cannot access your Participant Center, give us a call at 617-582-8342 or email us at FantasyDay@dfci.harvard.edu, and we can make the necessary adjustments for you.

How will I be notified when someone registers online and joins my team?

If you are a Team Captain, you can quickly review your team participants by logging in to your Participant Center, clicking on the “My Team” tab, then scrolling down to the “Team Members” section.

Can I choose what time I will bat and/or field?

Although the Jimmy Fund will do its best to accommodate specific time requests, we cannot guarantee a specific time and you may receive a batting and/or fielding spot at any time during the day between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. EST on June 1, 2019.

Is there an age restriction for the on-field participants?

Yes, all fielding participants must be 15 years or older at the time of the event. There is not an age restriction for batting participants. There is a batting tee available for participants to use if requested.

What is the fundraising agreement?

Your registration information will be processed after you agree to the following policy:

"In consideration of the acceptance of my registration in the 2019 John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day to benefit the Jimmy Fund, I agree to collect the fundraising minimum (Registration Fee NOT included) of $2,250/Full Inning, $1,800/Pinch Hitter, or $700/Gold Glove for the benefit of the Jimmy Fund and to be personally responsible for the difference if I fail to collect the required funds. The deadline for receipt of the minimum amount is two weeks after the event date. I understand that the outstanding balance toward the fundraising minimum will be charged to my credit card if I have not met this requirement by the deadline."

If I set my fundraising goal higher than the minimum, will I be held responsible for the extra money?

While we do encourage you to aim high and raise as much as you can towards our mission to strike out cancer, we will only hold you responsible for the required fundraising minimum, regardless of the goal you set for yourself.

If I raise more than the fundraising minimum can I apply the difference to next year's event?

No. All revenue raised during the 2019 John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day season will be applied towards the 2019 event.

Can I hold a fundraiser to raise money for my team?

If you are planning to organize a party, opportunity drawing, or any type of event or special project as a fundraising initiative, please contact the Jimmy Fund at 617-582-8342 or FantasyDay@dfci.harvard.edu at least four weeks prior to your event.

If my supporters give me cash or checks, how do I submit them?

If your supporters give you cash, please convert it into a money order. Checks should be made out to the “Jimmy Fund.” If your supporters make a check out to you personally, rather than to the Jimmy Fund, you can endorse the check by writing "Pay to the Order of the Jimmy Fund" and sign your name on the back of the check.

Mail checks and money orders to:
The Jimmy Fund
C/O John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day
10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor

NOTE: For all checks mailed in, please include your NAME, ADDRESS, and PARTICIPANT NAME on the outside of the envelope. This will ensure you are properly credited for your fundraising efforts.

Also, please be aware that if you receive multiple cash gifts, and you would like individual donors to be recognized on your donor scroll, they must be submitted as separate money orders. Only one person can be recognized per gift.

Does a matching gift count toward my minimum?

Yes. Once we receive the eligible matching gift form and are able to verify the original gift, the match will be added to your total fundraising total.

How do I customize my personal fundraising page?

To customize your personal fundraising page, log in to your Participant Center and click on the “Edit Page” tab.

I just made a gift. What will appear on my bank statement?

Your online gift will appear on your credit card statement as: DANAFARBERJIMMYFND. If the transaction is pending, you may see PENDINGBB appear, which is normal. How do my supporters submit a matching gift form?

Every company has their own policies and procedures to determine a particular charity's eligibility to receive a matching gift. Your supporters' Human Resources departments will have more information about how to have a gift matched or you can search for your company to see if they provide matching gifts to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. If the original gift is made online, please have your supporter(s) print out the email confirmation received upon making the gift and mail it with the matching gift form to:

The Jimmy Fund
C/O John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day
10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor
Brookline, MA 02445

Alternatively, if your supporter(s) makes their gift online, and their company has an electronic gift submission program, please have them email the confirmations of both their gift and their matching gift submission to FantasyDay@dfci.harvard.edu.

If your supporter(s) would like to match a gift they make by check, please have them mail the matching gift form along with their gift to the address above. Many employers' matching gift forms require the following information:

What date is John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day?

John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day takes place on June 1, 2019.

How do my guests enter Fenway Park and where can they watch me bat and/or field?

All of your guests can enter Fenway Park through Gate E. Guests will be able to cheer you on from the grandstands where they can view all of the on-field action!

NOTE: Only on-field participants are allowed on the field and in participant reception space.

I know my check-in time, but what time will I actually be batting or fielding?

You are scheduled to bat approximately 30 minutes after check-in. Fielders will also take to the field 30 minutes after check-in. Throughout the day, we may be behind or ahead of schedule and therefore batting times may shift accordingly. To reserve your space, it is necessary for you to check-in at Fenway Park promptly at your designated check-in time.

Where do I go if I have a batting package?

When you check in at batter registration, an escort will bring you and your batting team to the Visitor’s Clubhouse. They will then bring you to the batting cages to "warm up."

Where do I go if I have a fielding package?

When you check in at fielder registration, an escort will bring you to the Red Sox dugout where the Fielding Coordinator will provide detailed instructions.

How fast is the pitching machine?

The pitching machine throws balls at 60 miles per hour. All participants can request to hit off a batting tee if that is more comfortable. Hand tossed pitches will not be allowed. Aluminum bats are provided, although we have limited sizes; you are more than welcome to bring your own bat. Cleats are not permitted during the event.

What happens if I hit the Green Monster or even hit one over it?

You will receive an "I Hit the Wall" t-shirt to show off to all your friends and family!

Does the Jimmy Fund videotape the event? Take photos?

There will be no videotape of the 2019 event. Photos will be taken of batters and fielders and will be emailed out as soon as available.

Where do I change? Are there showers?

Participants will be able to change at Fenway Park in a bathroom. Unfortunately, there are no shower facilities available and the locker room has no changing area.

What happens if it rains?

Should the weather seem questionable, please call 617-582-8342 and listen to the voicemail recording. We will update this message periodically with information regarding the event. We will also update the website should the event be postponed. Should we need to host the event on another day due to inclement weather, you will be contacted with the new date. Your batting and/or fielding check-in times will remain the same.
