How much is it to walk?

For adults, register two weeks prior to the walk for a $25 fee, otherwise the fee is $30. For children (under 18) the registration fee is $5.

Can I register to walk the day of the event?

Yes! You can register in advance or at the door.

When does fundraising close?

Participants will have until December 1, 2021 to fundraise as an individual or for their team pages.

Are there any fundraising minimums if I start my own fundraising page?

No!

Where does the money from registration and fundraising go?

The funds raised go to support Dr. Wolpin and his pancreatic cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. A small percent goes to cover food, prizes, and supplies for the event that are not donated.

Are there other ways I can contribute?

Yes! You can make a gift, or start a personal or team fundraising page to help you set your fundraising goals.

Where does the event take place?

The walk starts and ends at Braintree High School, Braintree Massachusetts. The walk is a 5k loop around the neighborhood, Sunset Lake, and under the beautiful fall foliage.

Will there be a silent auction?

Yes! There will be an online silent auction in 2021. Stay tuned for launch and auction item updates. You do not need to attend the walk to participate. The auction will close the day after the walk. If you are interested in donating an item to be auctioned, contact promisesforpurple@gmail.com.

Is the walk dog friendly?

Yes! Well-behaved dogs, and all service animals are allowed.

How can donors give to my Promises for Purple fundraising page?

Send donors to your personalized page, where they can read why you support Promises for Purple, and make a gift via credit card to support your fundraising efforts. If a donor prefers to pay by check, they can make it payable to "Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund.” Collected contributions can be mailed to you, the fundraising page manager. Do not deposit checks into a personal or company account; they should be mailed to the Jimmy Fund liaison:

Will I receive a tax receipt for my gift?

All gifts made online will receive an email confirmation which will include tax information. For any tax receipt-related questions, email our Donor Services team at askCS@dfci.harvard.edu or call 617-632-2903.

I just made a gift online but did not receive my email confirmation. Can this be re-sent to me?

Yes. Please email our Donor Services team at askCS@dfci.harvard.edu or call 617-632-2903 to request an acknowledgement.

I received a cash gift from a donor who would like a tax credit. What do I do?

Please convert each cash gift into a separate money order and send it in to your Jimmy Fund liaison at the address below with the donor’s name and address. This will ensure that the donor is credited and receives a tax letter.

I just made a gift. What will appear on my bank statement?

Your online transaction will appear on your credit card statement as: DANAFARBERJIMMYFND. If the transaction is pending, you may see PENDINGBB appear, which is normal. Should you have any questions regarding what appears on your statement, please email our Donor Services team at askCS@dfci.harvard.edu. What is the relationship between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute & the Jimmy Fund?

The Jimmy Fund solely supports Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer research and patient care to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world.
