Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge volunteers are essential to the success of Dana-Farber's Boston Marathon® charity team. Volunteers assist the DFMC team through a wide variety of tasks and projects over race weekend.

Marathon Weekend Volunteer Opportunities

Headquarters

The Boston Marriott Copley Place serves as the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team headquarters throughout Boston Marathon Weekend.

Pasta Party

The Dana-Farber team comes together for a celebratory pasta dinner before the race to honor all the athletes and highlight their hard work. Volunteers greet, help check-in, and seat guests.

Marathon Course

Runner Guide volunteers are located near the exciting Boston Marathon finish line and help direct Dana-Farber runners from the finish to our post-race Recovery Zone.

Recovery Zone

Dana-Farber runners come to our post-race Recovery Zone to celebrate their accomplishment with fellow teammates and reunite with family. We offer changing rooms, food, massages, and medical attention. Licensed medical staff and massage therapists are especially needed!

QUICK TIPS

  • If you are younger than 18 years old, an adult chaperone must register with you for the same shift, location, and position.
  • Assignment-specific details will be emailed to you after you sign up for a volunteer shift and closer to the date of the event.
