I am excited to run for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute on April 15th, 2024 – my 15th consecutive Boston Marathon. I will continue my legacy as a Charity Program participant and help researchers get closer to the ultimate finish line – a world without cancer. Since its inception in 1990, the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge charity team has raised more than $122 million to fund Dana-Farber’s lifesaving cancer research.
I will train throughout the winter to make it to the finish line on Boylston Street. I am asking for your help to get to the starting line in Hopkinton. My goal is to fundraise $13,100 by the team’s March 23rd 20-miler – our longest training run of the season. Please consider making a 100% tax-deductible donation. Many employers will match charitable contributions. To learn if your DFCI donation is eligible, visit Dana-Farber’s corporate matching site JimmyFund.org/matching-gifts.
Many of you know I dedicate each Boston Marathon to honored heroes – people near and dear to our hearts that have been diagnosed with cancer. My honored heroes are my mother Ann Dulles Joor, best friend and 9/11 widow Nancy Melvin Taylor, college roommate and teammate Doreen Gostin Stutzman, and dear running friend “Wonder Woman” Carol Chaoui. Please let me know if you have honored heroes you want me to run 26.2 miles for on Marathon Monday.
With heartfelt gratitude, Christine Joor Mitchell
