On April 15th, I will run my FIRST Boston Marathon as a member of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team. Over the past few years, it has become a dream of mine to run the Boston Marathon, and I am so excited and honored to be running for a cause that is so important to me.
Cancer has impacted some of the strongest women in my life over the last few years and I am so thankful for the care and research they have received from Dana-Farber. I will be running this race in memory of my grandmother, Kathy Jordan and my aunts Colleen Jordan Shinney and Phyllis Madigan. I know they would be so proud of me for running and raising money for this amazing cause and will be with me every step of the way! I am also running in honor of the unyielding strength of my aunts Katherine Jordan, Jess Dapper, Kristan Murphy and many friends and family that have been impacted by cancer.
While training in the heart of Boston this winter is not going to be easy, it is nothing compared to the hardships that cancer patients and their families face daily. This will get me through the difficult months of training, and when I turn left on to Boylston, it will all be worth it.
