In April, I will be running the Boston Marathon representing Team Christine and Dana-Farber. I had the pleasure of meeting Christine Stec five years ago when I began working at Oakdale Elementary School in Dedham, MA. Christine had been teaching 4th grade for years and I was the newbee. Christine, Brianna and I created an instant bond and I quickly became part of Club4. Christine amazed me everyday with her incredible teaching and her perfect hair and outfits even when it was just an Oakdale t-shirt. When Christine was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer she continued to show everyone how truly remarkable she was, comforting us through it all. She never gave up, never stopped smiling and never stopped dancing. "Today is a good day to have a good day" quickly became not only her motto, but the entire town of Dedham's motto. Christine was always striving to do more and so, in her honor, I will be striving to run the Boston Marathon. I miss her every day and hope that someday soon we will find a cure for this horrible cancer.
Today is a good day to have a good day!
