This April, I will be running MY FIRST EVER MARATHON. This has always been a dream of mine, and running it in the best city in the world is an even bigger dream.
I am dedicating this entire journey, from start to finish, to my Dad, John Ferrara.
Running for Dana Farber is an honor and deeply personal to me. My Dad was diagnosed with cancer and received treatment from Dana Farber in 2013. Running Boston with Dana Farber is my personal way of giving back, of showing gratitude for the immense role the institute has played in my family's life, and especially for the life and health of my Dad. Crossing that finish line will be a tribute to him and to the countless families like ours who have been touched by Dana-Farber.
Dad, this one is for you. You are my reason for it all, my north star, and absolute hero. I love you more than you will ever know.
To quote my dad, "the fun is in the fight." I know I have some long months ahead of me and I know it won't be easy, but I will approach every moment in this journey with joy, gratitude, and an open heart. I am so lucky and grateful to have this opportunity.
To everyone in my life that is supporting me and this race, thank you so much.
Let’s do this thing.
One hundred percent of every dollar raised by the DFMC team supports the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These funds are fueling some of today's most promising basic cancer research.
