I am truly honored and grateful to be selected once again to raise money for Dana Farber Cancer Institute- an organization near and dear to my heart- and to be able to have another chance at completing my dream of running (and finishing!) the Boston Marathon and getting my 6 star medal.
As I wrap up my 10th year cancer free (YAY!), I am reminded how lucky I was to have the wonderful care and treatment from the doctors and medical staff at Dana Farber. 2012 and 2014 were very scary years for Dan and me but we trusted the wisdom of our doctors at Dana Farber and Brigham Women and got through to the other side. Personally, I know too many people who have lost their battle to this terrible disease. We miss them every day. This is why I run- to remind myself that cancer cannot keep me down- and that each and every time I raise money for cancer research through running races WE are getting one step closer to a world where cancer does not exist. I strongly believe that the basic cancer research that Dana Farber does day in and day out will get us there.
Please consider a donation to Dana Farber to help me finish this goal (that I started in 2016- what???!!!!) when I began my quest to complete the six world marathon majors (Chicago, Berlin, London, Tokyo, New York City and Bahhhhston) after celebrating 5 years cancer free. I only have Boston left!
As many of you know, I tried this last year and was sent to the hospital for dehydration at mile 21. To say I was disappointed with that ending would be a grave understatement. But here I am again... ready to tackle this beast and get my photo finish! Stubborn, I know.... but with your love, help and support I am sure to cross that finish line with a smile on my face. (I even hired a coach- shout out Chris Montgomery!)
