In 2020, when the world was changed forever by the COVID pandemic, my mother’s life was forever altered in a different way with her diagnosis of cancer. Mom is my hero, a forever vibrant tornado of a woman who is as feisty as she is brilliant. Treatments for her condition took their toll and week after week, I witnessed the changes that radiation, surgery, and chemotherapy inflicted upon her, but they ultimately saved her. Without the advanced treatment options offered to her, I would have lost the strongest and kindest woman in my world - treatments which can only exist through the dedication and focus of institutions like the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
I am truly honored to be joining Dana-Farber’s 2025 Boston Marathon team.
As I researched the many worthy charities dedicated to the fight against cancer, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s history, mission, and track record of clinical research clearly stood apart. It is a preeminent organization which not only provides cancer care, but contributes to significant breakthroughs in cancer treatments with their commitment to basic science research and drug development. Breakthroughs which are now actual drug therapies used in cancer patients worldwide.
By contributing to this meaningful cause, you will be investing in a brighter future where cancer is no longer a threat, where families can spend time together without the shadow of illness looming over them. Each dollar you give empowers the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to discover new treatments, aid in patient care, and fuel advocacy efforts to ensure that no one faces this battle alone. One hundred percent of every dollar raised by my team supports the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research.
I am so grateful for whatever contribution you can offer as your generosity sends a powerful message, that we stand united in the fight against cancer.
The finish line I will be crossing next April in Boston is not just a celebration of my mom's victory against cancer, but a testament to the strength of all who are battling cancer and a reminder that we all share in this fight together.
“A world without cancer” is a dream I will do my part in making into reality.
If you would like to sponsor me for a mile (or multiple miles!) of my 26.2 mile journey towards “a world without cancer”, please feel free to add a note to your contribution or email/text me on which mile you’d like to support. I will be updating a spreadsheet as each mile is claimed.
Again, my deepest thanks for your generous contribution.
