My dad, Fred McCarter, passed away in 2022 after a 19-month battle with brain cancer. I appreciated every last second of those 19 months; that time was afforded to us because of the excellent medical care he received, which was made possible by cancer research performed by organizations like Dana-Farber. I want to raise funds for the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (a Harvard Medical School affiliate) to support cancer research that can give families more time with their loved ones and lead to an eventual cure.
My dad was my hero. He was motivated, hardworking, and thrill-seeking; running the Boston Marathon is something that may have been right up his alley if his knees were healthy during his time here on Earth. If he were here today, he would support me wholeheartedly in this endeavor, just like he did with all of my other endeavors throughout my life.
My dad's business partner (and my boss), Daniel Cheung, has generously agreed to match the first $10,000 of donations to my page. That means the impact of each dollar you donate is doubled (until my page reaches $10,000 in donations).
Please help me honor my dad and support the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute by making a donation through my page; the process is fast, easy, and secure. You can also support by passing this page along to any friends that you think might be interested in donating.
I cannot wait to run the 129th Boston Marathon on the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team on April 21, 2025.
Thank you for your support! Together, we're headed toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
- KJ McCarter
