On April 15th, 2024, I will be running my 7th Boston Marathon for the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge(DFMC). I know I say it every year but never thought I’d run more than one marathon, let alone try for #7! Together we (and I mean WE) have raised over $110,000 over the first 6 marathons. The fundraising goal this year is $15,000, which will put us over the $125,000 mark in total.
Like most people, cancer has affected people in my life, friends, family members, and colleagues at work. The list seems endless, which is why I continue to run and raise money for a cause that hits close to home for many. My reason to run has not changed, to honor the memory of my mother Mary and the countless others who have been impacted by this disease.
All funds—a full 100 percent—raised by DFMC benefit the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, widely recognized as one of the largest and most successful programs of its kind. The current projects span an array of disciplines, including blood cancers, breast cancer, immunotherapies, ovarian cancer, pancreatic cancer, pediatric cancers, brain tumors, and prevention and early detection, as well as cancer biology, cancer genetics, gastrointestinal cancers, global health, and precision medicine.
Thank you for your support! Together, we're headed toward the ultimate finish line: A world without cancer.
