Everyone who is reading this has probably felt the impact of Cancer in their lives. Cancer! It’s a word that nobody ever wants to hear. It’s a word that stops you in your tracks. It’s scary and conjures up thoughts of panic, fear, sadness, anger and so on. And unfortunately, it’s a word that hit me both at home and close to home over the last few years. In early 2019, my dad, Jon, was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma and in early 2021, a 20 year-old neighbor and dear family friend, Daniel, was diagnosed with Lymphoma. While I did not have to endure the regimens of radiation, chemotherapy, and other treatments that they did, it was still my ticket to board the worst emotional roller-coaster ride of my life. But due to their fight, their positive attitudes, the love and support of family and friends and the caring, dedicated and brilliant folks at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute here in Boston, I am thrilled to say that both are now in ReMISSION!!
And now your MISSION, should you choose to accept……….
Is to help raise money to support critical cancer research by partaking in the second annual ReMISSION IsPOSSIBLE Virtual 5K, on a to be determined weekend in the beginning of April, joining forces with friends, family, acquaintances, perfect strangers, imperfect strangers, using social media, or even just spreading the word about the event!
Last year, thanks to our numerous and generous supporters, we raised over $23,000! While this is certainly an amazing accomplishment, we are not done yet! This year, like last year, all proceeds will be donated to the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute in honor of my dad and Dan! With your support, maybe the word cancer can conjure up thoughts of hope and possibilities!
And for those of you who are Mission Impossible fans, WE ARE THE STORM!
Thank you,
Dani Klein
