Welcome to the Caroline's Crusaders Against IBC page! 100% of funds raised through this page will support Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. All gifts are 100% tax deductible. You can choose "Donate To" (to make a gift) or "Join Our Event" (to both make a gift & register as a participant for the virtual 5K Run/Walk to Conquer IBC that we'll be coordinating for July 4th). Information regarding the 5K run/walk will be shared with each individual that clicks "Join Our Event".
Caroline was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) on December 24, 2020. IBC is a rare form of breast cancer, comprising about 1-5% of cases. As is common with IBC, the cancer cells originating in the breast tissue had spread to the skin and nearby lymph nodes by the time of Caroline’s diagnosis. The cancer had also metastasized to a small area in her pelvic bone.
Caroline completed a 20-week course of chemotherapy on May 17th and her scans showed an excellent response to treatment. She had surgery on June 7th and is now undergoing radiation.
Our family is so grateful for the care Caroline has received thus far and aims to raise as many funds as possible for IBC research. Caroline has been a rock star these past few months of treatment, and we are excited to raise support and awareness for IBC in her honor. A 5K seemed most appropriate, as Caroline is an avid runner and ran the 2014 Boston Marathon for Team Dana-Farber (event photo above)!
