WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

What is the Pink Patch Project?

The Plymouth Police Department is once again pleased to participate in the Pink Patch Project during the month of October.  The Pink Patch Project is a collaborative public awareness campaign, in partnership with more than 150 public safety agencies nationwide.  Its goals are designed to increase education about the importance of early detection and prevention in the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease.

During the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, uniformed personnel are allowed to replace their standard shoulder patch with the Plymouth Police Pink Patch as a reminder of our commitment toward raising awareness among those we serve.
How Can You Support the Pink Patch Project?

Each public safety agency collaborating in the #PinkPatchProject campaign has partnered with a cancer research organization or support group in their respective communities.  The Plymouth Police Department has partnered with the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Susan Smith Oncology Center.  As part of this initiative, we are selling our new Pink Patches directly to the community. The patches are $10 each and can be purchased anytime online or at the Police Department, 20 Long Pond Road, Plymouth, MA beginning October 18, 2022.  Please note, checks or money orders should be made payable to the JIMMY FUND).  We have a limited amount of these patches, and they will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. All proceeds will go directly to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute to provide breast cancer support services, programs and research.

Information About Breast Cancer

It is estimated that approximately 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. This disease can have a profound impact on the patient and her loved ones. It is a disease, however, that can be effectively treated with surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy and chemotherapy.

This year we are donating in honor of Sandy Coady, the wife one of our own, who is currently fighting the fight with courage, strength, and grace!   "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and twice as beautiful as you'd ever imagined!!"

When you participate or make a gift, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.   Thank you for your support!

Together, we can conquer cancer!
