WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

Thank you for visiting Donald Barde's Giving Page to support cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

Donald Barde, passed away on March 19, 2022, after a long battle with liver cancer, with his family by his side.

Donald was a Vietnam-era US Navy veteran; he operated the 40MM guns and was the officer's chef on the USS Nimble MSO-459. After serving in the Navy, Donald worked as a longshoreman for the Port of Albany until retirement.

Donald was an avid outdoorsman. You could find him enjoying the great outdoors through camping, fishing, and hunting. To him, the most precious time was enjoying nature and making memories with family and friends; it was his medicine and peace of mind. He was known for putting on a great fish fry.

Donald was a creative craftsman and artist. He was always looking for his next project. Donald’s creations were diverse: tee shirts, pinstriping, scrimshaw, woodworking & carving, and leatherwork. In addition, he was an avid bargain hunter searching for antiques, project material, and treasures.

Those that knew and loved Donald will never forget his outgoing and caring personality. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed the simple things. Donald will be greatly missed.

During his battle with cancer, he donated monthly to research hospitals for kids. He said, "I don't want kids to deal with this." We invite you to continue Donald's contributions by donating here.

Dana-Farber provides expert, compassionate care to children and adults and is home to groundbreaking cancer discoveries. Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has raised millions of dollars through thousands of community efforts to advance Dana-Farber’s mission.
