Andrew Aguirre, MD, PhD is a medical oncologist and physician-scientist at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Broad Institute of Harvard/MIT. Dr. Aguirre is focused on improving care for patients with gastrointestinal cancers, specifically pancreatic cancer.
He leads the Aguirre Lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which is a basic and translational oncology laboratory within the Hale Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Dr. Aguirre and his colleagues utilize a variety of genomic, functional genetic, molecular and cell biology approaches to identify novel therapeutic strategies in pancreatic cancer and to test these strategies in patient-derived laboratory models or genetically engineered mouse models of the disease. Dr. Aguirre actively collaborates with clinical oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, geneticists, and computational biologists to perform multi-disciplinary basic and translational research.
