Welcome to the
CRUS11TOUR Giving Page, in memory of Dave Hovey. Dave (Davey) Hovey passed away
of brain cancer on February 6, 2017 at the age of 26 years old. Davey fought
valiantly for 16 months, not only for himself, but for others suffering from
the same illness. He raised over $133,000 for Glioblastoma research in a golf
marathon in the summer of 2016, and set the groundwork for fundraising for his
team of 2017 Boston Marathon runners, who raised close to $300,000!
Davey called his cancer battle a "crush tour" since he had every
intention of crushing this disease, or contributing to the fight to crush it in
the future. Over time, we incorporated his college lacrosse number into the
term calling it "CRUS11TOUR" and we are continuing to honor and fight
for him every day. The donations raised from this page will be going towards a
fund in his name at Dana Farber, which will go directly to funding brain cancer
research by his doctor, Dr. David Reardon.
Dana-Farber provides expert, compassionate care to children and adults and is home to groundbreaking cancer discoveries. Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has raised millions of dollars through thousands of community efforts to advance Dana-Farber's mission.
Thank you for supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund's mission to conquer cancer. All gifts to this Giving Page will support the lifesaving work being done every day at Dana-Farber.
