WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

Thank you for visiting my giving page in honor of my husband Kyle, who was a patient and a part of the Young Onset Colorectal Cancer Center here at Dana-Farber.

Kyle was a young, otherwise healthy 38 year old who was extremely active until he started experiencing symptoms of right shoulder pain, along with fevers, night sweats and weight loss. On February 4, 2020, right as the Covid 19 pandemic hit, Kyle received news that no one at 38 wants or expects to hear. He had Stage 4 Colon Cancer that spread to his liver. Kyle immediately decided to take charge and viewed this disease as another challenge to overcome. He took it head on and did whatever he could to try to beat this disease.  He was a patient here at Dana-Farber's Young Onset Colorectal Cancer Center and received phenomenal care. He shared himself and his story to help others and spread awareness of Young Onset Colorectal Cancer. He was a part of GQ magazine, Dana-Farber blogs, and news outlets  to help educate others about the disease and it's symptoms and how it is on the rise in people under 45.  Kyle wanted to help others and was so positive, and unbelievably courageous throughout his battle, and always kept hope he would beat the odds of this disease. Unfortunately, just after celebrating his 40th birthday, Kyle lost his battle on December 13, 2021. Kyle will forever be in our hearts and as a tribute to him we would like to give hope to others who are battling colorectal cancer. We will be fundraising to distribute comfort bags to patients at the Young Onset Colorectal Cancer Center at Dana-Farber. Each bag will consist of different items to try to help alleviate some symptoms of their treatment and also give them some encouragement. Items including lip balm, lotions, sanitizers, hand warmers, socks, tissues, gum, nausea drops, puzzle books, cards of encouragement, and journals. We want to try to brighten a visit for the patients, maybe give some relief of symptoms or anxiety, and let them know they are not alone in their fight. This will be done in Kyle's memory and any amount of donation would be very appreciated. We will also be raising additional funds that goes directly to the Young Onset Colorectal Cancer Center to continue the mission and help with awareness of the disease in younger adults and research. So please consider donating, and help us give some comfort to patients during their treatments.
