In lieu of having a wedding registry, we are asking that you instead donate to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s breast cancer fund. As you all know, cancer is something that hits hard for both of us, and Dana-Farber has been there for each diagnosis for over 20 years.
Ken’s deceased wife, Amy, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998. At the time, Amy was receiving treatment in Rhode Island, but it wasn’t until she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer that Amy got a referral to Dana-Farber. At that time, Amy went to Dr. Winer who saw us three days after Amy’s diagnosis. We were in good hands and Amy tried every type of cancer treatment Dr. Winer recommended: multiple surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy, medication, etc. We are forever grateful to Dana-Farber for the care Amy and our family received for over 12 years.
In February 2018, we were deep into our love story, when Mary Ann got diagnosed with breast cancer. With Ken’s referral, Mary Ann was at Dana-Farber just days later after her life-changing diagnosis. Mary Ann saw Dr. Anna Weiss and Dr. Winer for surgery and cancer treatment. We were so impressed with Dana-Farber’s care and bringing Mary Ann to the other side of her diagnosis. Mary Ann has referred others with a breast cancer diagnosis to Dana-Farber, and we continue to be impressed with the overall approach to cancer treatment and research Dana-Farber provides to each patient.
Our families have a deep connection to Dana-Farber, and we have supported our way through many walks and fundraisers to help future patients and help do our part to find a cure. We are honored to share our special day with you and thank you in advance for your support!
Best,
Mary Ann & Ken
