WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER
Last year, after an 18 month battle with cancer, my mother passed away, just hours before my birthday.
Each year, on my birthday, I want to honor my mother in a way that I know she would love -- getting donations for research.
My mom's cancer team, particularly Dr. Ben Schlecter and Nurse Adrienne Kolk, worked tirelessly to manage my mom's pain, fight for ways to lengthen her life, and provide support to me even well after mom had died.
For this years fundraiser, please consider donating to my mom's team of underdogs, those working to find treatments for the rare cancers no one knows about until they are diagnosed.
Proceeds will not only go to much-needed research for these rare cancers, but towards self-care for the amazing selfless team, who work so diligently and care for their patients as if they were family.
My hope is that my mother will live on through her granddaughter and through her devotion to research and care for others. Thank you.
