TODAY A DIAGNOSIS OF MULTIPLE MYELOMA IS GRIM

Currently in the US, more than 34,000 patients are diagnosed annually with Multiple Myeloma, and there is no known cure.

MY STORY

In September 2017, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and given 2-5 year survival. I received radiation treatment and underwent one chemo treatment after another until February 2021, when my local Community Oncologist called me and Leean into his office to tell us he was discontinuing treatment as I was no longer receiving any benefit and was suffering all the side effects.

That was sobering news that no family should have to receive.

I am lucky and blessed in that I had been consulting remotely with Dr. Clifton Mo at Dana-Farber and because on March 26, 2021, the FDA approved CAR-T Cell therapy for treatment of Multiple Myeloma.

I started treatment at Dana-Farber with the newly approved CAR-T cell therapy in May and by mid-July 2021, my labs showed as normal or near normal. A true miracle.

As of September 2022, I have passed the 5-year statistical survival rate I was given at diagnosis. This was only possible because of Dr. Clifton Mo, his team, and their work at Dana-Farber.
