WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

As we gear up to celebrate our marriage and the joining of our families, we wish more than anything that our sister Annie McNamara Evans was here to celebrate with us.

Annie - big sister, fierce protector and frequent prankster of siblings Patrick, Megan and Molly - was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in 2016 at the age of 25. In the years that followed, she underwent numerous rounds of chemotherapy, two bone marrow transplants, several experimental treatments and multiple hospitalizations before her cancer proved too stubborn and took her from us on November 7th, 2019.

Throughout her cancer journey, and with the incredible support of family, friends and her truly spectacular care team at Dana-Farber, Annie remained resilient, poised, and courageous. Not to mention hilarious…her goofy sense of humor stuck with her until the end, as did her pursuit and constant reminder to others to “find joy.”

As a couple, we think back fondly and with gratitude on the times we tobogganed with Annie in Quebec, tailgated with her in Nashville, and of course - the day we watched her marry the love of her life, Dan Evans. These memories that we cherish may not have been possible without the support of her care team, who crafted a unique regimen that helped her feel well enough to enjoy many holidays and events with family.

In lieu of gifts, we hope you'll consider making a donation to find the cure that Annie so desperately needed and support programs for the nursing staff at Dana-Farber and Brigham and Women's, who provide such amazing care and give so much to their patients and their families.

With love,

Sarah and Patrick
