WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

Virginia Norfolk lost her battle with breast cancer on August 31, 2023.  Throughout the fight, she was cared for by the exceptional team at Dana Farber, giving her 3 1/2 years of an active, normal lifestyle while undergoing a sequence of standard and trial treatments.  The doctors, nurses, and their supporting staff always treated Virginia with a level of personal attention that let her focus on enjoying life while they worked to fight the cancer.  Even near the end, when Virginia decided to discontinue treatment, the doctors stayed in touch, answering questions, offering support, and letting us know they were there for us.

Everyone who knew Virginia knows that they were touched by the love and laughter of a very warm and caring person.   Although Virginia is gone, we will all remember her for that love and caring she showed us.

Virginia asked that even though she loved flowers (and cats),  the best way to honor her and to extend the impact she had on the world and the people around her is to support the efforts of those still working tirelessly to help others.   Please join her in donating to Dana Farber Cancer Institute or the charity of your choice so that others might have a chance at longer, happier lives.

Dana-Farber provides expert, compassionate care to children and adults and is home to groundbreaking cancer discoveries. Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has raised millions of dollars through thousands of community efforts to advance Dana-Farber’s mission.
