WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

Last year, we lost my aunt (who I called Titi Vicky) to cancer. Less than 2 months later, we lost her oldest son (my cousin, Raymond) to the same disease. This year, my uncle (Tio Papun) lost his leg, also to cancer. There are the first 3 reasons why …

This year, I will celebrate my 50th birthday in Oct. In memory of my family members and all who have been lost to cancer, in honor of all those still afflicted and affected by this terrible disease, and in honor of my gratitude for being on this planet for half a century, I am asking for donations of $10-$25 to support cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. If you happen to work for an employee who matches donations, I would love to add corporate donations to this cause.

To up the ante, on my 50th birthday I will be donating 12 inches of my hair to HairWeShare.org, an non-profit organization that makes wigs for those who suffer from medically related hair loss due to cancer treatments of other autoimmune disorders.

My Titi Vicky used to love when anyone played with her hair. When I was young,  she would actually pay me and the other kids in our family a quarter to brush or braid her hair. I miss her so very much.

Thank you for reading, and for your very important donation to help fight cancer.
