The American Cancer Society estimates that 97,610 new melanomas will be diagnosed and about 7,990 people will die of melanoma in the United States in 2023. Melanoma mortality rates have declined rapidly over the past decade because of advances in treatment.
However, these treatments do not work for everyone and we want to know why.
Jeff Coelho was diagnosed with Stage IV Melanoma in April of 2022. At the time he was diagnosed he loved to hike, bike ride, travel, and was proud of his work as a Technology Leader. He was always the life of the party and loved everyone unconditionally. He could make a friend wherever we went. This was a devastating time for all of us.
Jeff was 56 years old when he passed away August 26, 2023. We are heartbroken to lose someone so vibrant and young who had so much more life to live. He was a wonderful life partner to Sara, best friends with his daughters, Alyssa and Avery, loved by Sara’s children, Brianna and Audrey, with countless close friends and family who miss him. Every day we devote ourselves to his memory and saving others. We encourage everyone to save their skin and donate to Melanoma Research.
Dr. Haq and his team focus on resistance to melanoma therapies, including targeted agents and immunotherapies. At Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Dr. Haq devotes part of his time to developing the next generation of melanoma therapeutics and translating them to innovative investigator-initiated clinical trials. His clinical practice is dedicated to patients with melanoma.
This research is critical to understanding and developing future treatments for patients.
With your donations we can support a dedicated team who gives hope to families just like us who have battled Melanoma. Thank you!!
