WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

Thank you for visiting the Giving Page of Dr. Kenneth H. Cohn, father, husband, surgeon, author, writer, speaker and former CEO of Healthcare Collaboration.

The proceeds of the donations you make today will go to Dr. Joshua Lakin, Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care, and his work to improve communication between seriously ill patients and their families and clinicians.

Much of his work is done through the Serious Illness Conversation Program, which uses a multistep intervention centered on a conversation guide for clinicians to improve communication between patients and their doctors in both the primary care and hospital settings. The goal of the program is to help empower individuals with the necessary tools to live as fully as possible in the face of serious illnesses.

The Serious Illness Care Program is led by palliative care visionaries Drs. Susan Block and Rachelle Bernacki, and surgeon Dr. Atul Gawande, author of the 2014 book Being Mortal. Being Mortal shines a light on Dr. Gawande's personal experiences that led to this important work.

As Dr. Ken Cohn dedicated his life to the work of collaboration in healthcare, we find this to be a fitting tribute to his legacy.

On behalf of the Cohn family, we thank you for your kind and generous donation.
