WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

Thank you for visiting the Postdoc and Graduate Affairs Office's (PGSAO) Giving Page to support cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and the Jimmy Fund.

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is developing cutting edge therapies and constantly improves standard of care for the many individuals that have been or who will be diagnosed with cancer in the future.  The daily contributions of graduate students and post-doctoral research fellows in research laboratories at DFCI are both central and essential to DFCI's mission to provide expert, compassionate care to children and adults with cancer while advancing the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of cancer and related diseases.  This dedicated and talented group of junior scientific researchers tirelessly work with the goal of improving therapy options for cancer patients.

Once a year, DFCI's Postdoctoral and Graduate Student Association (PGA) organizes an off-campus retreat to honor the accomplishments of this outstanding group of junior researchers - the Annual Postdoctoral and Graduate Student Retreat.  The 2019 retreat, which will celebrate the 15th anniversary, is scheduled for Thursday, September 26th at Simmons College in Boston.  At this full day event, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows present their ongoing research to peers during a poster session and seminar series.  A well-known senior scientist is invited to give a keynote lecture - and this year Dr. Jeffrey Karp, Professor of Medicine, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Principal Faculty, Harvard Stem Cell Institute, will deliver the keynote lecture.  Further, Sabrina Woods, a LinkedIn Trainer and Holistic Career Coach,  will give a workshop on Linkedin for Career Building and Job Search.  Dr. Joanne Kamens, Executive Director of Addgene, will give a talk on the importance of networking.  To end the retreat, we plan to further honor the dedication of current junior researchers with an opportunity drawing.  Awards will also be given to the winners of the best oral and poster presentations.

We would be honored and delighted if your organization would consider contributing to the annual retreat.  In return, we will acknowledge your company as a supporter through the placement of your logo in the retreat program.
