WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

June 2020 Update: It's been a year. My original goal was to raise $5,000 so that my mom memorialized with a gene in the gene wall at Dana Farber in Boston. Everyone has been so incredibly generous in helping to make that happen. Thank you for being amazing humans! I have increased my goal in an effort to do more good. I can't think of a more productive way to honor my mother than to raise money to help make it better for those that follow behind her. Research is the way to a cure and effective treatments that save lives.

Love you all,

Rachel

Caryl Sarofeen Hunt, of Quincy, MA and Sebastian, FL, passed away on June 19, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Boston, MA the daughter of the late Sarofeen P. Sarofeen and Marjorie M. Sarofeen. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 35 years, Harvey J. Hunt, her two daughters, Ruth Anne Grabowski and husband Tom of Keyport, NJ and Rachel Delisle of Dudley, MA, stepson Peter Hunt and wife Kirsten of Austin, TX, and stepdaughter Patti Ann Leahy and husband Robert of Wrentham, MA, and cherished grandchildren Bobby, Haley, Benjamin, Megan, Hannah, Peter, Justin, Emma, Olivia and Grace. She is also survived by her 5 siblings, Marjorie Kourafas and husband Harry of Canton and Randolph, MA, Peter Sarofeen and wife Dorothy of Holbrook, MA, Stephen Sarofeen and Linda Resner of Randolph, MA, Mark Sarofeen and wife Nancy of Randolph, MA and Ruth MacEachern and husband Kevin of Scituate, MA and numerous nieces and nephews who she held close to her heart.

She grew up in Randolph, MA, and later settled in Quincy, MA before finding a winter home in Sebastian, FL.

She grew up sailing at Town River Yacht Club in Quincy where she was a member for many years. Early in life she was active with the Girls Scouts of America and she was Boatswains Mate in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary out of Pt. Allerton in Hull, MA. She was retired from the United States Postal Service. Most recently Caryl served as President of the Sebastian Embroidery Guild.

Caryl was dearly loved by those fortunate enough to have known her. She was a devoted daughter, caring sister, loving mother, dedicated wife and best friend. Her passions in life, aside from doting on her grandchildren, were sailing, sewing, finding a good bargain, and enjoying each day doing anything and everything with her loving husband. She enjoyed their time in summer, relaxing on their boat, reading a good book and watching the beautiful sunsets in Quincy. She looked forward to their winters spent in Sebastian feeling the breeze on the Inlet, racing their RC sailboats, and spending time quilting and sewing.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends from Town River Yacht Club and the lovely ladies of the Sebastian Quilters and Sebastian Embroidery clubs, as she left this world much too soon.
