WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER
Make the holidays brighter for our patients and their
families through Dana-Farber's Holiday Patient Assistance Program!
Your gift helps ease the financial burden of a cancer diagnosis by providing
families with holiday meals, tanks of gas to visit family, and the ability to
purchase gifts for loved ones. Funds raised through this Giving Page will be
used by the Office of Patient and Family Programs and Services to purchase gift
cards from Target, Walmart, grocery stores, and gas stations.
Our goal is to raise $9,500 with 100% staff participation. As development
professionals, we know you will all be inspired to help us reach our
fundraising goal! Your support of our Patient Assistance Fund will also count
towards #GivingTuesday!
Meet one of the families who will benefit this year from your support:
A 40 year old father of two has advanced stage cancer and is nearing end of
life. His severe pain can only be managed in the hospital. The patient is a
devoted single father to his two young children - a 2 year old daughter and a 5
year old son. He has been unable to work for several years and has very limited
funds. The family is grappling with the fact that soon the patient's elderly
mother will be rearing his two young children without him.
