5 years ago, on September 12th I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia(ALL). That day started me on path that I am still walking and will continue to navigate for the rest of my life.
Over the past 5 years, I have been incredibly blessed with friends and family who stood with me continually through my treatment. The doctors and nurses who cared for me are people that I will never forget. The other patients who lived with me through these tests inspired me to take the challenge head on with a joyful spirit. One of my best friends, Sam Berns, set a standard for me on how to face adversity and sickness with a zeal for life and I will always be thankful for him as a role model. I could go on and on about the people who fought with and I think its most important to express my gratitude to all those who played any part in my battle, no matter the size.
For those who watched my journey, you have been able to see the amazing impact that the Boston Children's Hospital and Jimmy Fund had on me. Through the good and bad, Red Sox games and hospital trips, health and sickness, I was given opportunities that not all cancer patients are able to have. Being able to only miss one semester and still graduate with my friends was something that I can largely attribute to my doctors and nurses(and maybe my stubborn attitude). Without the treatment, medicine and attention that these medical professionals and institutions gave me, I would not be where I am today. For this reason I am asking that you would donate to this page so that other kids like myself can have as amazing experiences with cancer. There are so many other children and young adults going through trials like myself and donations to the Dana Farber can ensure that there will be thousands more stories just like mine.
From September 12th until November 28th I will be raising money for the Dana Farber. I believe that it is a small way for me to give back to those who literally saved my life.
Thank you,
Max Beimler
