Skye is a 14-years-old student who loves God, loves music, and has the voice of an angel. She leads worship at church and cares greatly for her friends. Everyone is drawn to her sweet spirit and she always makes those around her laugh.
In June 2019, she was diagnosed with NUT Carcinoma, an aggressive and rare form of cancer. The cancer started in her lungs and has spread to her spine and bones. After 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 15 days of radiation treatment at CHLA , they found a new growth which led to her transfer to Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Skye was eligible to participate in a clinical trial, where she was the 3rd child to be treated with a new drug.
Unfortunately, after a month of treatment in Boston, Skye was not responding well to the trial drugs--so, treatment was discontinued and she went back to LA with her family. That notwithstanding, we are grateful to have been given this opportunity and would like to encourage our friends and family to continue supporting Dana Farber Cancer Institute in their mission to help patients who are suffering from NUT Carcinoma.
Skye went home to be with her savior Jesus Christ in January 31, 10:30 PM after prayers and singing worship songs surrounded by her family. Even though her fight against NUT carcinoma has ended, we would like to continue to raise funds to find a cure to this terrible disease.
