WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

Hey Friends and Family,

My name is Jacob Mariani.  I am 12 and turning 13 in the summer. I play hockey, football, and lacrosse. My Bar Mitzvah is coming up soon.  As some of you know, my mom runs the Boston Marathon for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  While I may not be able to run a marathon yet, I can help by raising money for Dana-Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic, a place where children and their families find hope.

I chose this cause because both my grandmother and my grandfather had brain cancer which cut their lives short.  I want to do something to help other people like them who have cancer.

Through my project, with your support, I am Putting Cancer in The Penalty Box. The Jimmy Fund Clinic staff has an Amazon Wish List to purchase much-needed items despite the limitations imposed by Covid.  There are so many things I think other children would enjoy playing with while spending time in cancer treatment.  If you would like to contribute to my Bar Mitzvah project to honor my grandparents, please click the blue “DONATE” button to fill out the gift form (use the “OTHER” button on the gift form to customize the amount).

The funds we raise will be used by the Jimmy Fund Clinic staff to purchase items from its Wish List.  Below are examples of just a few of the ways your gift could be used:

$18 donation – Wood block set or geometric stacker for a very young Clinic patient
$36 donation – Sticker books for two patients
$54 donation – Stainless steel water bottles for three patients
$108 donation – Play-Doh sets for seven patients
$216 donation – Talk in a Jar for twenty teen patients
$306 donation – Transformer Rescue Bots for twenty patients
$414 donation – Board games for a dozen families

And there’s more—I’m doing more than just fundraising: For every $250 raised, I will run a mile or shoot 25 pucks--and people who want to can run it with me!

I am doing all this because of my grandparents and cancer patients of all ages.  By donating, you will help cheer up kids and their families, adding brightness to many lives. Even just a few dollars will help. Let’s show these patients how much we care. We are going to fill up that penalty box!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
