WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

My family holds the Hope It's A Beach Thing 5k each year in memory of my father, Tim Beach. My dad was my friend, mentor, loving father, support system and now guardian angel. After being diagnosed with a Stage 4 Glioblastoma brain tumor in 2010 he passed away in April 2012 after a courageous fight. From the very beginning he had the strength and hope to find the best treatment to fight this terrible disease. We met Dr. Reardon at Duke in 2010 and followed him to Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Because of Dr. Reardon's research and knowledge of clinical trials we were given hope and my dad was with us for almost two years! Our event raises funds and awareness for brain tumor research - the funds going directly to Dr. Reardon's research efforts at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

We hope to reach families dealing with brain cancer to provide hope, support, and love during their journey fighting this disease. Each year the event brings smiles, laughter, tears, high-fives and support to family and friends of those who have fought or are currently fighting brain cancer. Join us in this fight - come to the event: put on those walking/running shoes on the 5k course, donate your time as a volunteer, donate your funds to research, or come have a drink with us at the after party - we'd love to see you!

When you participate or make a gift, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.

Thank you for your support. I hope to see you at the University of Dayton on September 24, 2022!
