WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

This September will be Team EmmaBelle’s 10th year participating in the Jimmy Fund Walk to raise money for neuroblastoma research.  Team Emmabelle’s contributions to the Jimmy Fund have helped fund clinical trials, which have increased the cure rate for neuroblastoma from 10% in 1991 to 65% today!

Although our contribution has been significant there’s much more to be done.  The protocol of care for neuroblastoma greatly affects the quality of life for the kids who receive it.  Dr. Diller, Chief of the Jimmy Fund and Emily’s oncologist says, “the fact remains that we are treating some of our youngest patients with the most toxic therapies in our arsenal.”  Emily struggles with a 65% bilateral hearing loss, kidneys that function at 25%, stunted growth, and hair loss, all of which affect her everyday life.  A better protocol of care would reduce the damage that NB patients suffer as a result of invasive and intensive treatment.  We can do more.

Emily is a freshman in high school and enjoys soccer, lacrosse, her friends and working.  This is a gift.  Help us give hope to kids diagnosed with neuroblastoma.
